Engaged Encounter is a weekend designed to give couples contemplating engagement or planning marriage an opportunity for an intensive look at their commitment to one another. Through the atmosphere of the weekend a couple has the chance to discuss with each other their desires, ambitions, goals, and attitudes about money, sex, children, family, and their role in the church and society.
What makes us different?
There are a number of things which makes this experience different from pre-marital counseling or even other classes for engaged couples.
- It's one weekend. This allows you to dedicate one cohesive block of time to preparing yourselves for marriage, instead of trying to remember something you were supposed to have learned in last week's "session" or the week before.
- It's one weekend. You only have to do it one weekend. You don't have to block out time every weekend for 6 weeks.
- No canned talks. The couples that are presenting have had to create their own talks, giving real examples from their marriage that will help you understand the kinds of things that actually happen when you're married, not just hypothetical situations.
- Dedicated "staff". This ministry is "staffed" with 100% volunteers, so you know we actually care about encouraging good, Godly marriages. It's not just our "job".
